How it works
A lot is defined by its production run and named by a lot number — on the Lineará certificates, an identifier such as LR-25-0891. That number is the key that ties a physical material to its measured record.
Because purity is a property of what was made, not of the product name, each lot is tested on its own and gets its own certificate. A product sold across several runs will have several certificates, one per lot.
The lot number is also the anchor for traceability. It is printed in a way that stays legible — the string used to pull a certificate has to survive being read off a vial — because the whole record hangs on matching that number correctly.
Why it matters
The lot is what makes a purity number meaningful. “This product is 99% pure” is a claim about a product; “this lot tested at 99%” is a claim backed by a measurement on a specific material.
Per-lot records make variation visible. Comparing certificates across lots is the only way to see whether quality is stable over time, which a single headline figure hides.
It is also the unit of traceability: if a question arises, it is asked and answered at the lot level, which is why the number matters as much as the measurement.
