What it checks
The checker looks for the thirteen fields a rigorous synthetic-peptide certificate documents, drawn from our certificate-of-analysis field reference: two identity-and-purity questions (identity by mass spectrometry; purity by RP-HPLC area-percent with its chromatogram), the mass-balance and non-peptide-mass fields (net peptide content, counter-ion, water, residual solvents), the contamination screens (heavy metals, and — as cleanliness characterization only — endotoxin and microbial), and the provenance fields (appearance, lot number, method disclosure, and verification). For each, it reports Present, Unclear, or Not detected in the text you pasted, with the field guide’s note on what a rigorous entry looks like. Detection is keyword-based and informational — a heuristic prompt, not a definitive read.

How do I know if a peptide COA is real?
A credible certificate of analysis ties itself to a specific production lot and lets you confirm it independently — a lot or batch number that matches the vial, plus a verification mechanism such as a QR code, access code, or verify URL that resolves to the same lot. It also discloses its methods rather than printing bare numbers. This tool checks whether those disclosure fields are present in the text you paste; it reads the document, and cannot confirm that any reported value is genuine. Always cross-check the lot with the issuing laboratory.
What should a peptide certificate of analysis include?
A rigorous COA answers two independent questions — identity (is this the right molecule, confirmed by mass spectrometry such as ESI-LC-MS) and purity and content (how much of it is here, by RP-HPLC area-percent with the chromatogram and by net peptide content from mass balance). Beyond those it should disclose the counter-ion (TFA or acetate), water content by Karl Fischer, residual solvents, a heavy-metals screen, and — as cleanliness characterization only — endotoxin and microbial screens, plus appearance, a lot number, the analytical method, and a way to verify the document.
What’s a red flag on a COA?
The clearest red flags are gaps: a purity percentage with no identity confirmation (purity answers only half the question), a bare percentage with no disclosed method and no chromatogram, no net peptide content (which lets you assume the powder mass is peptide mass when counter-ion and water can be a quarter of it), no counter-ion or water disclosure, no lot number, and no way to verify the document. Individually these are gaps; together they describe a certificate doing marketing rather than analysis.
